Vince Capano - Scout
Vince currently attends Brock University in Ontario working towards a degree in Sports Management. Before attending University Vince played minor hockey in the Toronto area and worked with the Mississauga Steelheads of the OHL as a co-op student as well as participating in the MLSE student program. Vince completed his hockey GM and Scouting course with Sports Management Worldwide mentored by Mike Oke, Peterborough Pets OHL general manager.
George Becker - Head Trainer
George enters his 5th season as the teams trainer. George ensures that any injured player receives the necessary attention and assists in getting them healed. George is an integral part of our team and the players benefit a great deal by having him on the bench.
Max Mocon - Team Operations Assistant
Max is currently attending Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School and has been a member of this team since 2013 as an operational assistant. He has been an accomplished minor hockey and baseball player locally. Max brings enthusiasm, skill and knowledge to the team and we look forward to see him develop.
Guido Lamberti - Scout
Guido is a seasoned veteran and will assist the Shield as a scout by helping to find strong players in B.C. and Europe. Guido's many contacts in Canada and abroad are a great asset to finding players and helping current players earn a pro contract in Europe. Guido coached in Europe, which is where he met current Shield GM & Coach Frank Demasi. Guido calls British Columbia his home.
Head Coach & General Manager
The Toronto native enters his 4th season as head coach of the Shield and his 5th in the GMHL. In his first season as head coach of the Shield, Demasi guided the team to a 35-6-1 record and was awarded the GMHL COACH OF THE YEAR. Demasi coached the Bracebridge Phantoms his first 2 seasons in the league. Coach Demasi has amassed a coaching record of 154-47-10 in his 5 seasons as a head coach in the league. Demasi has also coached semi-pro in Europe and in the GTHL with the Thornhill Rebels, Vaughan Panthers and Toronto Young Nats. In the summer coach Demasi runs various hockey camps, for all age groups across North America.
Prior to his coaching days, Frank's professional hockey resume spanned 8 seasons in Europe with stops in Belgium, England, Italy and Germany. In 8 seasons of Professional hockey Frank won 6 Championships, and 3 league scoring titles, to go along with 2 Team MVP awards.
Before joining the Professional ranks, Demasi attended Lake Forest College in Illinois where he played 4 seasons of hockey in the NCAA averaging almost a point per game. Demasi earned a BA in the Social Sciences with a concentration in Sociology and Anthropology.
Frank, his wife Megan and their sons Arthur & Joe make Muskoka their home.
Anthony Gambacorta - Assistant Coach
Anthony was born in Toronto and played 7 years of minor hockey in the GTHL AAA level for the Don Mills Flyers, Jr. Canadiens, Vaughan Kings and North York Rangers. Anthony advanced to the Junior level lacing up the skates for 5 seasons for the Toronto Moose, Innisfil Lakers, and the South Muskoka Shield. During this span Anthony was a 3 time All Star, and was consistently on the top of the charts in leading all defensemen in points.
After retiring as a player Anthony began coaching in the GMHL for the Lefroy Wave before moving on to coach the South Muskoka Shield where he has a winning percentage of 75% behind the bench and has coached in the 2013/14 All Star game.
Anthony is a seasoned veteran of the GMHL and his experience and knowledge of the game and the league are an asset to the Shield and we are proud and fortunate to have a coach of his calibre on our staff. Anthony will be tasked with running the defense. Anthony lives in Gravenhurst.
